Various jobs LQ, two wires go to the brakes, one to the throttle, one to a crank sensor, a couple to the battery, with these bike conversions, you can choose just how much hard work you want to do, generally, the bike is left in the hardest gear, when you pedal, assistance kicks in, when you get up to speed, as long as you are peddling, the assistance kicks in and out, more so when going up hill. At cruising speed if you operate the throttle, the motor takes over at about half travel, the remaining half takes you to a speed it is not possible to peddle at, not advisable without helmet, gloves etc etc.
