Yes once Carol about 15 years ago when the wife and me were out celebrating her birthday, they took the usual stuff then, TV, video recorder, disc player. The place was turned over but I had a small hidden safe for valuables and they never found it, even if they did I doubt they could have got it opened. There was a spate of house breaking in the area at that time with the same gang involved, they were eventually caught and jailed. I have several camera's about the place now, best thing I ever invested in.
It is an experience you never forget.

Yes once , nothing much taken as I had my jewellery with me . I felt as if the house was dirty for ages after .

I didn't think so at the time, I just reacted without thinking because I was angry, the next day I had a burglar alarm installed as I couldn't have spent another night at home without protection

Honey my worst nightmare..sure I would freeze, you are very brave. Yes Carol, same happened to us, we had been working all day on a property we would soon be moving to, and were shattered this night, slept through the burglary (ex hubby was normally light sleeper). They even had the cheek to take a new sheepskin coat belonging to hubby and a new hoover, as well as the easy to selll stuff. It was a horrible experience, I felt dirty for the remaining time we were there. Worst of all it affected my son

I've done the same with cameras. They sell the most realistic looking surveilance cameras for under $15. They are so realistic they even have wires that you drill a wee hole and stick into where they are mounted. I have a few in the back.. and on the sides of the house pointed at the windows. Must do the trick.. who knows. If you think about it.. if you were a thief and had thousands of homes to choose from would you try the one with the cameras on it? Would you even check to see if they were real?

OH.. and I also have a big "Beware of DOG" sign on the gate.

Yes unfortuneatly, it must be about 5 years ago now, I only went out for 1 hr. but I think whoever it was, had been watching me for days to see when I go out and come back. I came home and saw that all my windows and door was open, and the only thing I was worried about was Coco as she was only a 5 years old then and I was scared that he might have hurt her. I went upstairs and all the drawers were on my bed and clothes every where, and Coco was hiding under my bed, thankfully she was ok. they stole four Sovereigns, and all my other jewellery, but couldn't find anything else.

A young couple I know with a little boy were broken into a few weeks ago while they were asleep! Horrible!
