Not

Not as much interest, by the high street, as the profits are not as good as Valentine's Day, etc.

Re: Shrove Tuesday / Ash Wednesday

I can remember how important pancake day was when we were kids. We always got really excited a few days before.

I bought some pre-made ones today but forgot the lemons so will have them tomorrow instead.

Re: Shrove Tuesday / Ash Wednesday

I have just made some little Scottish pancakes and l now feel stuffed and ‘ick’ after eating them!

I associate pancakes with a smoky kitchen, the smoke alarm going off and the house stinking of frying/pancakes for ages after.
I have had to open the back and front door to get the pancake smell out.

Batter is often better if left to stand.

What! I had bangers and mash instead of pancakes. Bloody hell, what is the world coming to?

Many years ago when my kids were kids they used to get their friends round to watch me toss the pancakes. It seems to something that has gone out of fashion and people make those tiny thick American style pancakes.

It is my only excuse to use sugar during the year (and lemons from the garden). Thank you baby Jesus for being fond of mince pies, hot cross buns, chocolate bunnies and pancakes.

I didn't forget, but we were too stuffed after dinner, so didn't make them. Will have some for lunch today!

See, I don't get that. Why would you have pancakes instead of a meal? Surely they should be served as a dessert. Of course, you have to remember to serve a smaller main course, which I forgot
