I was manager of an air conditioning company for some years.
We had 10 engineers who all drove a £20k van with £5k of stock. We go to YOU for the repairs. Our business unit was probably 15 times the size of a dental surgery and most engineers on £35k +.
We had 4 office staff, not just one receptionist like a dental surgery.
At the time we were charging £40 per hour and made profit.
How does a dentist justify around £100 + for a filling that takes 20 mins at best?? - and you go to them?
And don't get me started on costs for a root canal and perhaps a crown - biggest rip off in the country.!
