You should have taken the Grua driver to the police station with you, that was really unfair.

If the truck was blocking your exit how did the Grua manage to tow your car past it?

It always amazes me that all the things Brits say about foreign people are exactly the things they say when abroad.

The moaning about not speaking the lingo is tops though, moan about people coming to the UK and not speaking English but they go off across the world and never utter a word of the language in the country they visit or go to live in.

That's our birthright.
We conquered most of the planet so what's wrong with expecting the savages to speak English?

If it's a country we didn't/don't rule then should make it their priority to learn, it's only polite.

Spanish is such an easy language to speak, if your not fluent just speak slowly, shout and put an 'o' on the end of every word. Sortedo.

Somewhat off topic Cass, but a little language story from yesterday. One of our German neighbours has just bought a Jaguar car. Klaus speaks very good English, very proper and correct. So, he has his new Jaguar and joins a forum for Jaguar owners in Spain, the forum is in English. Last night I got a message from Klaus asking me what a "bar steward" was as someone on the forum had written that a "bar steward" had put a big dint in his car. I replied saying it was a polite way of saying "bastard". Klaus replied saying, "well why didnīt he just say bastard, because thatīs what the person who dinted the manīs car was. You English do like to complicate things".

Donīt forget to change the "o" for an "a" depending whether you are speaking to a man or woman

You can soon find yourself in trouble if you use the wrong pronunciation
