I have often wondered about the questions - given that time is limited - how do they compensate for the fact that some are so much longer than others?

I have always assumed that questions are timed to make it equal between contestants but I don't know for sure. i tried Googling it but couldn't find a definite answer. Sometimes the questions have unnecessary words in them and I thought this was to pad them out.

I love Mastermind.
Watching it the other night, l wondered about the length of questions and if they were timed to be equal.

I also wondered if contestants were told not to answer the question until it had been fully asked?
Some of them look like they want to answer before the question is finished but hesitate.

I can’t think who l think would be suitable, to take over from John Humphrys.

No definite answer at the moment. A few Indian women have been mentioned, of course but also Anne Hegerty.
