Re: Lidl or Aldi For Your Weekly Shop?
Hi Mary,Re: Lidl or Aldi For Your Weekly Shop?
Thank you both for your comments. I am so fussy when it comes to fresh meat and fruit/vegetables. I usually get my meat from my local butcher but so many people have been telling me that Lidl and Aldi meats are really good quality English/Irish and so much cheaper than the butcher.Re: Lidl or Aldi For Your Weekly Shop?
Lidl for me every time. I do all of my shopping there, only ever going to Tesco about once every couple of months. I like the quality and value of Lidl's goods and many of their own brand are far superior to the large supermarkets. When I go to Tesco I only buy a few things, doing the bulk of my shopping list on the way home at Lidl.Re: Lidl or Aldi For Your Weekly Shop?
Thanks Cee Cee and Roxy, well so far it looks like Lidl is ahead of Aldi for quality. I like the sound of Lidl bakery. I don't believe Aldi have a bakery, do they? I may well still pop into our local Iceland though as they stock Greggs sausage rolls and Steakbakes which he who must obey loves for a snack on Saturdays. They also do the part-baked rolls which are gorgeous when eaten just out of the oven - (bacon rolls on Sunday morning. nom nom.)Re: Lidl or Aldi For Your Weekly Shop?
SG, Not for snobbish reasons but l wouldn’t do a big shop in either of them! I don’t think they are that cheap at all! I might occasionally buy a bag of red onions or 2 Au raisin from Lidl but there’s a funny smell in the shop, so l don’t stay in there for long!Re: Lidl or Aldi For Your Weekly Shop?
As it happens, I'm just off to Aldi, mainly for deli items. I normally shop for essentials at Home Bargains and luxury items at Booths. There is a new Lidl in town but I would have to drive to get to it so I haven't bothered yet. If I want to drive, then Morrisons, Asda, Sainsbury's and Tesco are within reach but aren't worth the effort.Thread Tools | |
