A British Bill of Rights.

I am not sure where I read this but I saved it some time back back and I thought it was worth a new airing on here, so whoever wrote it, thanks.
Slightly amended to to suit the new politic in this country.

We do not have a Bill or Rights in the UK

The US Bill of Rights lays out certain fundamental (‘inalienable’) rights that citizens of the country possess. These have typically included the right to free speech, the right to a fair trial and freedom from torture. Because these rights are constitutionally protected, judges can typically declare laws that breach them to be unconstitutional and therefore void.

The UK at present has an uncodified ‘virtual’ constitution, which is made up of hundreds of statues and legal precedents accumulated over the years, as well as entirely unwritten conventions.
In 1998 Britain's Labour Government enacted the Human Rights Act, which brought the European Convention of Human Rights into UK Law. It has been proposed a few times to change the UK Human Rights Act into a proper, written Bill of Rights. However, a number of problems are posed by the idea of introducing such a Bill into the UK. Firstly, does the concept of a ‘right’ make any sense, both on its own and in relation to other people ? And if it does, then how should ‘rights’ be decided and laid down ? So to stop all this waffling..from the normal people of the UK, a tongue in cheek UK BILL of RIGHTS.

“ We, the sensible people of the United Kingdom, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior and secure the blessings of debt-free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some guidelines for the terminally whinny, guilt ridden, and deluded snowflakes.
We hold these truths to be self-evident that a whole lot of people are confused by Human Rights Legislation.

Article I. You do NOT have the right to a new car, big screen television, the biggest and fastest games console or any other form of wealth.

Article II. You do NOT have the right to never be offended. This country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone - not just you. You may leave the room, change the channel, express a different opinion, and so on, but the world is full of idiots, and probably always will be.

Article III. You do NOT have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful. Do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy because of your stupidity or your lack of skill.

Article IV. You do NOT have the right to free food and lodging. Britons are the most charitble people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are growing weary of subsidizing generations of professional chavs and immigrants.

Article V. You do NOT have the right to physically harm other people. If you kidnap, rape, maim or kill someone, don't be surprised if the rest of us want to see you in prison or the electric chair.

Article VI. You do NOT have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, dont be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you up or harm you big time

Article VII. You do NOT have the right to a job regardless of race, creed, sexual preference or religion. Take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training to make yourself useful and self supporting. Don't expect a free ride from the government or from your community.

Article VIII. You do NOT have the right to happiness. Being British means you have the right to PURSUE happiness. Make your own happiness. Don't sit there and wait for it to be given to you.

That’s eight articles, it needs rounding off to ten, funny or serious add some more
