Phone rings I say hello dead silence.

Do a 1471 get number ring back and its engaged.

dial number and told number not reconised.

Do a google search on number and find hundreds have the same thing I have had.

Does any one know the point of this...is it a scam or what?

Doing my head in as have had this a few times over the last couple of years.

seems it's fairly new.........most complaints are this month and only about 7 complaints all together.

Whocallsme is probably the best site but they have only one complaint.

More than likely surveys.
Indian speaking women and men.
My most hated number as a 0203 code luckily enough they only have my mobile number and I rarely answer that unless I see a name I know.

Get an answerphone.

If I'm in, I don't answer it unless I recognise the voice.

Any messages, or if they don't leave a message, it all just gets deleted at the end of each day.

It costs me nothing, yet presumably they must pay for the calls.

It's sometimes an automated calling system and the first of several called to answer hits the jackpot: they get to receive the call!

We joined the TPS years ago. It has made absolutely no difference.

It's a computer that rings random numbers. It then transfers you to the first person free in the call center. If none are free it will wait till one picks up the call, or of course, until you hang up....

I leave the answering machine for a number I don't recognise, or number withheld. If they really want me they can leave a message.

I get the 0121 numbers regularly, sometimes the same number calls within 20 minutes of the last call. They don't get answered but the 1471 feature on my answering machine records the numbers. A quick Google tells me that most of them are ambulance chasers or the two I got today are from an insurance company (my house and contents insurance is due in March)
