RIP Gerald Grosvenor.

The Duke of Westminster has died.

A thoroughly decent bloke with a great sense of humour.

It would appear thousands of people have benefitted from his charity work and no doubt massive donations.

As well as the thousands he employs.

I'd say he was a valued member of society and an asset.
Without people like him this country would be a hell of a lot worse than it is.

Re: RIP Gerald Grosvenor.

He was a really lovely man. I went to visit an very old lady who lived on his estate, because she wanted some financial advice. She was in her 90's and had lived in the same house since her husband, who worked for the Duke, had died many years before. She and all her neighbours were telling me how wonderful he was and they showed me some little presents he had sent them for Christmas.
I am sorry UJ, but, if you never met him, I am afraid that your judgement of him is very flawed. Sadly many socialist dislike the wealthy, out of jealousy rather than any knowledge of what they do. Your criticism of the wealthy is no different than me saying "The poor are all lazy and that is why they cannot manage", but I would never say that as I know it isn't true, so perhaps you should reconsider your blanket condemnation of anyone who has wealth!

I don't know much about the guy but he seemed ok to me. He obviously did a lot for charity too.
