The Bikes Are Clean, The Bikes Are Clean

This announcement may not rock your world but it takes a lot of effort for me to wash my motorcycles these days. The weather seldom cooperates and yesterday was no exception.

It was about 40 degrees F yesterday and windy as I started the deed. I had to work fast as my hands were freezing because it was so cold. The sun was bright and shiny overhead which can lure you into believing it's warmer than it is.

My big bike, a 2009 Triumph Rocket III Touring, was filthy from riding around in the rain for 200 miles. Now that the weather has improved(yesterday) I was embarrassed to be seen riding it. The finished bikes are looking pretty nice right now, considering it's raining dog & cats outside. LOL

Re: The Bikes Are Clean, The Bikes Are Clean

Since I'm going to lose my job in about 100 days I'm giving some hard thought to the real possibility I may lose the big bike. I won't be able to make the payments on an unemployment check. I'll keep the new scooter because I own it outright. It's not as big, not as powerful, but it will do 75 mph and gets 65 mpg on regular gas. The scooter has decent load capacity, a new higher windscreen & a new palm rest for taking any strain off my wrist. I can take it anywhere I ride the big bike.

Forced retirement has me trying to cut expenses to the bone. I'm fortunate that the severance package from Intel Corp. will allow me to pay off my Smart car completely. So, I'll have new, reliable transportation for years to come.

A smart move Bob, . . during the winter we've just had biking is no pleasure that's for sure.
