Neighbourhood Smell

When we moved here 20 years ago from the City, there was an odour in the air that was reminiscent of the seaside, although we are 85 miles from the nearest coastline, I just caught a whiff again, on my way to the downstairs WC, is there an aromatic ambience where you live.

Re: Neighbourhood Smell

Actually there is a frequent aroma here Spitty. We live only about 2 miles from the weetabix factory and get the smell from that when the wind's in the right direction. Quite a pleasant smell.

I never minded the smell of weetabix when I lived in Burton Latimer but after OH worked on repairs in the factory Ive never eaten a weetabix again..

After that when he worked in food facoties I asked him not to tell me anything.. Id have ended up on a starvation diet!

We get some funny sort of smell after they have been blasting in the slate quary, I cannot really describe it, very slighty earthy I suppose, still it goes away very quickly because of the winds we always get here.

Later on in late Spring the fragrance from all the Oil Seed Rape fields is hard to escape.
