Emails from company I work for.

I work for a South African cleaning company they are a huge company with divergent businesses under their company umbrella, great company to work for they are lovely on a local level, really nice people.

They send all staff emails from time to time about how the company progresses, I'm baffled why they do it as for a cleaner in Woking the acquisition of another company I don't even understand what they do (provide cloud services and easy office management of unified communications within the workspace) so why waste tie sending the information to me ?

Just wondered if this is just my batty company or if it's normal practice in these big companies.

Another thing they do is post job opportunities, I can't imagine they'd take a cleaner from Woking seriously if she applied for any of them, Economics manager, ergonomics manager, cloud services operative all in South Africa

They probably think it's less effort sending a global email than try to sift through all the addressees.

Think its just standard practice, they have to inform everyone who works for them about job opportunities and such, they have to give equal opportunities to everyone so there's no comeback later on

You mean it's 'Political Correctness' and they feel obliged to jump through every hoop in an attempt to cover their backs?

Or to be more charitable, it could be to give employees a sense of inclusion within the company?

I think it's laziness at the top disguised as equal opportunities.

I'm not sure it achieves that we usually just have a laugh about it, only time it bothered me was when they were encouraging a whip round for the CEO getting married, multi millionaire didn't need my money I thought !
