Storm Names Pilot Scheme

The first named storm from the met office is heading our way, a big ail (Abigail) is expected tonight.

Next one will be Barney, followed by Clodagh, Desmond, Eva, Frank, Gertrude, Henry, Imogen, Jake, Katie, Lawrence, Mary, Nigel, Orla, Phil, Rhonda, Steve, Tegan, Vernon,Wendy.

If this is a success you can send in your suggestion for next year.

The reason for naming storms,"to raise awareness of severe weather and ensure greater safety of the public".

Q, U, X, Y and Z will not be used.

I wonder why on earth we've suddenly got to name them? We never have before.

Might be more original to name them after sci-fi characters ..

Or perhaps some connection to where they're expected to hit?
Isn't this one headed for Scotland?
