Is It True That Old People Turn Into Misers?

I saw this article in 'that' newspaper about a 73year old lady, who has lots of money but won't spend it. Instead, she penny pinches or talks herself out of purchasing something!
She says she's proud to be a miser!
Have you become a miser in your 'old age' or do you splash the cash?!!

My problem is I have always been too generous and therefore have nothing to be miserly with.

Depends whether one has 'spare' cash to be generous with in the first instance.

We never had spare cash when first married and bringing up the daughters,now because of circumstances we are lucky we have spare monies,do we spend it,heck no 30+ yrs of scrimping ensures that'll never happen.

I have never had any money to spare , I have always had to watch every penny, I guess that makes me a miser.

I'm not so sure when fund raising charities often find poorer people give far more than the better off.
