Some information can be useful, if you want that sort of thing, but data is a new term & should be very carefully stored.

If you want to start an argument between a bunch of scientists just say,

"The plural of 'anecdote' is 'data'."

Soaking up data is OK for the younger folks Spitty, but I believe when you get to my age you have to jettison old data out of the brain to fit new stuff in, trouble with that is you get to choose what to put in but not what to throw out.
Take this for example, last summer I decided to learn one of Homer’s long poems by heart, as I had to recite it out loud I went down to the shed at the bottom of the garden, I mastered the poem alright but forgot me way back to the house.
