Walkabout

Had an early start to visit the hospital today, and was pleasantly surprised by being seen early by the podiatrist.

Slow but steady progress, so i headed into the city to sort out a few things, problems with my electricity and gas providers during my hospital stays mean they had taken a lot from my bank account they should not have.

It will in time get sorted, but i was worried, so time to bite the bullet, i decided to part with some of my camera gear, and was heartened when i was able to sell it so easily, big boost to my funds so solved the short term problem.

Feeling relaxed i decided to check out various shops with an eye to what i could purchase. However its Black Friday and the populace have gone mental, wandering about with a walking stick you would think some would give a bit of consideration.

Not a hope it was sheer madness and i tired quickly so it will be online for me, i was tempted by a bridge camera that has a superzoom was it is compact and lightweight, but i will wait to see how much mobility will return with time.

At least i got out for the day, pretty much been housebound lately, dont have that Christmassy feeling yet.

PS rushing to get ready this morning i accidentally managed to shave into my beard, so it had to go.

Foot and leg giving me gip tonight, having some of Scotland's finest product to help in the healing process Hic

Re: Walkabout

Good to hear all went well at the hospital Nom

You were brave to risk going into town after the visit but well done to you. It's sad to hear you had to get rid of some of your camera gear but also reassuring that you haven't given up hope of getting out and about again in the future.

Busy day for you, so rest up tonight and have an easy day tomorrow and get the strength back in your legs.

Hi

Great to hear you have been able to get out. I find it a strain when I can't go for a walk.

Re: Walkabout

So glad everything is healing at last Nom, I have wondered, but didn't like to ask.

Pity you decided to sell some of your photography stuff, but if needs must, I guess there isn't much choice. I hope you got a good price.
I expect it was nice to have a change of scene and a wander round town, I guess that is why your getting a bit of gip tonight, maybe you over did it a bit.

I had to smile when you said about having to lose your beard, had you had it for many years? It usually makes men look years younger when they first shave it off.

Hope you manage to get some quality sleep tonight.

(p.s. See - no 'tongue lashing' at all. Nice as pie I am. x )

Re: Walkabout

Nice to hear you're getting about Nom.
I've got a bridge camera, they're ok but don't do much, not that I'd know what to do with anything fancy, nice and light though.
Please be more careful with your beard if future, they're very precious!
You are going to grow it again aren't you?

Re: Walkabout

Cheers all , yes sad about the beard it was only a neat chin type and i had it for years. But it will be regrown.

As for my foot still a while for it to go, i have an MRI scan to see if any infection remains in the bone. Followed by a clinic with the specialists where i will ask about all the meds im on and some of the side effects im experiencing.

The Bridge camera i was looking at is the Canon SX 50 good for long distance and macro shots. Saves having to carry loads of kit around. Many of my birding mates use them.

Nom I would go for it if you can , your are a such a good photographer and I know your hobby means a lot to you. Buying it will help to give you an incentive to keep fighting through your difficulties.
