Text alert!!

I find myself texting people rather than picking the phone up to speak to them ... Not if I want a long gossipy chat of course - but for messages, questions, enquiries, confirmations, etc it's brilliant.
The advantage is that you never disturb someone while they're eating or busy doing other stuff and they can reply when it's convenient.

I actually use the text more than the phone?
Do you text a lot?

No, only cos it costs money & email costs nothing, its part of our tv/phone/online package. I email all the time, much prefer it to phone conversations for the same reasons you mention.

Yes I text my sister in Derbyshire every day and we speak on the phone once a week. I have unlimited texts for about £7 a month but phone calls are quite expensive (we have Skype but my sister doesn't like it because it means her conversation is not private) .

With text we can also carry on a conversation throughout the day , I think they are brilliant

No my boys are always telling me turn on my phone and text but it's not for me, and the flaming beeping when someone gets a text is very annoying.

I only text when I have a non-urgent message for someone, then the can see it and respond at their convenience.

Like Carol I text for convenience but not enough that uses up my text allowance included in my plan.

I use texts (9c each) and mobile (9c a minute) a lot because it is so cheap I never use anything like my allowance each month. The $19.90 seems like nothing to pay (and includes .5 Gb data) especially as I no longer pay for a land line.

Rarely chat long so most calls are a few minutes at most and cheaper than the 30c I used to pay for a local call (untimed)

I do text sometimes, but often only to answer a text I have received.

I text a lot but I have unlimited free texts with my phone package so it matters not... and DH pays the bill even better (my birthday present last year)
