Laptops

I've never had a laptop. I've got a 'big' computer.
My son has just bought himself a new laptop and given me his 'old' one, (which is still many years younger than my 'big one'.
Now I know I've got a lot of learning to do on this new equipment which I know nothing about, but apparently he had a virus on it once, so how would I know if it's all gone?
Is there any way of telling?

If its the Ebola virus , checkout the songs for my funeral thread . If not you can download a free virus checker called avast and run that.

Mups there should be an anti virus prog on it, check your programme list and report back

Hi Mups if you go to your list of programmes there is probably an anti virus programme installed. I would find it/click on update to make sure you have the latest updates then run it.

If there isn't one you need to install one.

I have the latest free version of AVG which is one of the best anti virus progs imo, also recommended by my PC guru

Im only trying to help Mups i use Avast and find it to be good.
