Earth hour

My apologies if there's already a thread on this... just thinking I'll sign off shortly and do the lights-out hour. Will peek out the window to see if the neighbours bother.

Re: Earth hour

Nobody else on our street seemed to think about it.

Thanks for the link Bruce... found that so very sad, but a good cry once in a while is ok.

Re: Earth hour

Well some companies took advantage by turning everything off and doing us out of an hours work. Got to go back in tonight to do the work I missed. Not what I want to do with my Sunday Evening.

Re: Earth hour

What ? Turned every thing off in a company ? Do you mean electric? What a daft thing to do ? putting everything back on at once would of caused massive surges did the whole world do this ? when was it ? didnt happen in my village electric on all day and night. Or my alarm clock would be flashing .

Re: Earth hour

It sounds like a laudable cause, but in reality, it isn't going to achieve anything. You are not going to save the planet just by turning off lights and whatever, only by shutting down power plants and the 'national grid'. But how realistically possible is that?

Besides, I didn't even knew it was going to happen.

I didn't either and agree that it will achieve very little - I shall use my favourite analogy, again: it's like turning up to an earthquake zone but only willing to use a dustpan and brush.
