Re: your first job
My first job was at 12 when I started cleaning offices with my Mum, then at 15 I left school and worked in a Convent for a couple of years, I used to cook breakfast for the sisters and then wash up and go home to return later in the afternoon to do their suppers and clear up ready for next day.Re: your first job
Office junior, doing typing! And making the drinks for my colleagues. I only had 3 + the manager, very small office, and I enjoyed it.Re: your first job
Same here hated school and left at 15 yrs old. Took out an apprenticeship in electro/mechanical engineering and got an ONC. Found working on building sites in winter was too cold so packed it in. Then went on to making minature fuel pump motors for Concorde and TV cameras etc etc. then worked for BT for over 20 yrs as a switchboard fitter, took early vol and bought the kennels 20 years approx until we retiredRe: your first job
I left school at Christmas time 1952 two weeks after my 15th birthday. I started my apprenticeship as an agricultural blacksmith after the new year. Much of the work was converting horse drawn implements to tractor. We still had some Clydesdales which needed shoeing.
