Re: Footsteps in the Night
I don't sleep very well at night so I usually have a couple of hours in the afternoon, which I find is better quality sleep than that which I get at night.

On Friday and Saturday nights when I'm not at work I stay awake as long as possible to try to sleep right through the night but it never works, even after thirteen years of working night shifts. Even if I go to bed absolutely shattered at 11 pm I'll be awake by 1 am feeling wide awake again.
I get up, go downstairs and watch some TV for a couple of hours. Thank the world for box sets!
I worked nights for 7 years and weekends were awful.
On working days I'd get to bed about 8am and sleep til 2pm, starting work at 7pm. I didn't snooze before work and it was always a struggle around 2am when your body is at it's naturally lowest ebb.
But weekends....I'd come home on a Saturday, go to bed as usual but only sleep til 11am for some reason. Then I'd get up and be like shoite on a stick all day. Then by 9pm I'd be asleep on the sofa, my dinner having gone straight to my eyeballs
I'd sleep better on a Saturday night but then all day Sunday I'd be depressed at the thought of work on a Monday night.
My husband however loved nights, coped fine, slept like a log.
