Hi guys,
As you can see from my welcome posts I'm a recent widower. It seems I'm starting again, like being a teenager again but without the energy.
I live in Mylor, just north of Falmouth. We moved here from the West Midlands about 16 years ago, bought a bungalow and remodelled it to give it 3 double bedrooms. It's now a comfy warm home, perhaps a bit too big now everyone's fled the nest, but I'm not one for moving without a damn good reason, and only then to something better. But what's better than living in a creekside village with a wonderful community in a beautiful, if wet, part of the country?
My Interests
I wouldn't call them hobbies but I do enjoy cooking, messing about online, pottering in the garden, caravanning (it's difficult on my own but that's all down to the memories) and watching really good films with few special effects and a storyline. We used to travel about a bit but as we became restricted by my wife's condition it's been a few years since I've been anywhere other than the odd day trip to Brittany to stock up on cider and baguettes. I have booked a tour of the Canaries for January and will be visiting my daughter in Portugal in July.
I don't know whether anyone's into politics on here but I'd describe myself loosely as a social democrat, which means there isn't a party left which I could even think of supporting. I suppose, at a push, the Green Party comes closest but as Greens are inactive down here I don't have much of a decision to make come election time. I'm one of those oddballs these days who believes in fairness, proportional representation, land value taxes etc. I'm also a republican.
