The things that make your day
I'm a member of my old school facebook group and we had all been talking about a particular teacher who was a bully and I was telling my story of how that man left his mark on me. Then today, Jeremy, a boy who was in my class told me what he remembers about me.
What I read brought tears to my eyes, to think someone has such nice memories of me really did make my day and made me feel proud of who I am.
Here is what he said to me today:
I have a word for you Bev, it’s probably something that you might not even ever recognised in yourself. But you are an encourager, it’s your nature, you always have been. You look for the best in others and that is kindness. I think it was the 2nd or 3rd year when the french teacher was our form teacher (was it Miss McGovern or something like that) you went up to her and said have heard Jeremy’s french accent’ because you felt it was french sounding, she just grimaced and I don’t blame her. Anyway that is what I remembered about you, nothing much and I know you will have forgotten, but you see that is what I still remember, It wasn’t life changing or anything like that but I remember it. Maybe it was just the fact someone gave me some encouragement or even a bit of attention but you see these small things in our life’s can make a difference. We aren’t insignificant even the smallest gestures can have significance on somebody’s life. Today I pay you back Bev for your small act of kindness because I feel you need to know that you are indeed significant And loved especially by God, your family and friends. x
To know the mark I left on this boy was such a positive one made me feel so good about myself. Obviously, he doesn't realise himself but he too is an encourager by giving me this encouraging message of how he saw me. I never did realise I was very significant at school because I was always quite shy, but obviously I was.
It's little things like this that makes my day, the fact I made someone feel good about themselves.
Now tell me what kind of things make your day, don't be rude now boys
