Speed

It looks like the speed limit through motorway road works is going to be raised from 50 mph, to 60 mph, apparently this will lower drivers heart rates, but, one has to wonder, will this lengthen workers "skid marks"?

Re: Speed

Many of the roadworks are usually not being worked on and sat at 50mph can be frustrating, a better idea would be a variable limit, if nobody is working then 60 would be OK, where its safe, and a lower limit of 50, or lower if the road crews are there,

Totally agree. We have had two years of roadworks here, making a dual carriage way into town. 5 and a half miles , with a limit the length of it of 40mph. Trouble was it was joining an existing dual carriage way and of course what was happening was some ( lots) of drivers, seeing the 40 signs and slamming on the anchors causing accidents

The 40 signs started half a mile from the actual real start of works and once in the works zone you might then drive 3 miles before you got to the area they were actually on. This caused even more frustration for some so once out of the zone it was once again foot to the metal and perhaps another accident waiting to happen further up the road

Re: Speed

Seems reasonable if no one is working, I'd not want to be a worker on those roads at 40,50 or 70.
