Thoughtless

Why are Some people are so thougtless, seeming to expect things revolve around them?. After a short spell in Hospital I was waiting to be brought home by ambulance, but there was to be another patient as well. But he was refusing to come from the ward in a wheelchair, wanting a stretcher,so we waited and waited over half an hour, while staff tried to persuade him,the ambulance crew were furious and refusing to wait. Finally he did come in a chair and immediately demanded to lay on the stretcher, the crew refused, there was no special reason for this, He then demanded two windows be opened ,despite myself and another patient being next to them, then he was demanding his medication being given him,but the crew refused as they are not allowed to give medication

Re: Thoughtless

I'm not at all sure deylon, selfishness seems to be becoming common thing these days. I'm pretty sure it's fairly recent development too.

Re: Thoughtless

He might have a mental illness deylon or he may be autistic and need things in a certain way. People with autism can have similarities to those with OCD and they get very anxious when they are out of control of their environment. So I am just guessing but it doesn't sound as though you are describing normal behaviour.

I agree, Annie. Sounds very odd.

Re: Thoughtless

I think if hed had a mental illness or other conditions the Hospital ward would have said . They were the ones who were refusing to take him from the ward to the ambulance on a stretcher, insisting he sat in a wheelchair,he said he needed to lay down because he had back trouble. He didnt seem to have any mental problems [ I have had dealings with mentally handicapped/ ill people ]more like he wanted things his own way

Re: Thoughtless

I suspect you are right deylon. Some people will do all they can to stay in hospital ( probably because they have nobody at home) but I doubt the hospital would have released him, if it was necessary for him to remain in a lying position.
It is easier to ask reasonable people to accept problems like this and accommodate the difficult one, but transport people are getting fed up of it too!
On one occasion I was being taken for my chemo and another lady, they were picking up, refused to get in the ambulance because it wasn't the driver she was expecting. Her daughter assured her she would be alright, but she wouldn't listen. In the end they told her that other passengers had appointments so, if she wouldn't travel with them she would need to get a taxi to take her. They drove off leaving her with her daughter.
It is time we stopped blaming these tantrums on mental problems, because many of them are just cantankerous behavior.

Re: Thoughtless

I do agree Twink, some people seem to think they have priority .My neighbour was complaining about transport to Hospital because they went to different locations picking up other patients and she was late for her appointment.I have also had this experience but understand that transport cannot be tailor made for each patients needs
