I have just been out with Chloe and there was a white bird in the field next to the stream which looked like a small white Heron, same shape with long legs and kneck and a black bill.
I am think it must have been a Little Egret.
Once a rare sight apparently there are 700 breeding pairs here now some in Devon/Cornwall and South Wales so I guess it strayed inland.
It was quite beautiful

Where to see them
A recent colonist, it is most common along the south and east coasts of England, and in Wales. The estuaries of Devon and Cornwall; Poole Harbour and Chichester Harbour hold some of the largest concentrations and they are also common in East Anglia. They are an increasingly common sight in inland areas too and are gradually increasing their range northwards here. https://www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wi...l/littleegret/
I think they like being around sheep Meg. There are many Little Egrets here, but when the shepherds are moving the sheep around, virtually every sheep appears to have an Egret or two riding on their backs.
It looks like a Little Egret, Meg & as has been said there are a lot around now, most estuary's have them, almost year round.
Did you notice it's feet, were they yellow?
I haven't seen one before they tend to inhabit coastal
Tiff I couldn't see its feet in the grass, then I didn't notice when it flew into the next field.
