Its the time of year that the office Christmas party's are in full swing. Must admit only had a few myself. But we often organized things among ourselves for meals, parties, and even trips away.
Some of these felt like chores, and others were great for bonding with your workmates, it was usually the ones organized by the firms that felt like hard work.
When I was teaching in FE we always had a party for mature students and the staff who taught them. It was the highlight of the season, so much fun ! There was always a ball (dress optional) for the staff but it was a much more formal affair.
I've never had a job that had one, a bunch of us would go to the pub usually.
However my first wasband worked at BAC, the one we went to there was excruciating and the one for the Defence Force job he had in SA was even worse but very different.
The company I work for are very generous and put on a free Xmas party with a meal, entertainment and free bar. I don't go, and the morning after stories just reinforce why I don't go lol.
The team that I am part of will go out for our own Christmas meal. We'll have a good night and might get a bit tipsy, but there will be no tales to tell the following day.
That is all I miss about Christmas past, the tipsy crumpet coming out of office parties.
Otherwise I wish Christmas was banned , well it is getting there.
