A Jamaican lilt!

Apparently, the government's been recruiting teachers in Jamaica to come to the UK to teach.

Love it!!

Just imagine the scene in a few years outside a junior school with the kids saying " Frah wha pawt yuh deh?

It means Where are you from?!

Sadly they could recruit from almost any other country and find people who speak better English than some of us native born people.

Me too. I have a good friend, who is Jamaican. She's eighty five years old and has a fantastic sense of humour and a zest for life to match any teenager.
She's has been here for fifty plus years. And lived and worked most of them in London, brought her family up there, came to live in Manchester two years ago to be near her son.
She has never lost her lovely accent.

Whilst I cant abide the MTV Haarlem yo bro accent of recent times the lovely lilt of older people from Trinidad or Jamacia always makes me smile.

The same goes for the music the current day stuff is hard and vilolent the old style reggae and ska is brilliant...
