Shred or Burn

Which do you do to documents which you don't want to fall in to the hands of a ID thief.
I use to shred. But then the shredder kept getting blunt and jammed up ,so i bought a little Garden Chimney And now i burn ,I've been busy burning this morning .

Re: Shred or Burn

I just tear things into pieces and put them in the kitchen waste.
If people want to paw through wet tea bags, coffee grains etc for the bits to piece together they can be my guest.

Re: Shred or Burn

I use a shredder but tend to get impatient and put too many sheets in at a time ..... resulting in extra time lost unjamming it!

Re: Shred or Burn

I tear up too, everything in long thin strips so the name and address are not visible anymore - there's an art to it but easy once you know how! I had a shredder but unless they're the huge things that schools, hospitals and the like use, they're too easily broken.

Re: Shred or Burn

Think that's a different kind of jamming, Patsy unless yours is a musical one.

Re: Shred or Burn

Shred, but I have nowhere to burn, living in a flat. At the allotments we are supposedly not allowed bonfires, but that doesn't stop some people.

We had a shredder at work and it had a fit if more than one thickness of paper in at a time Not what you want when you have dozens of files to shred..
