Mush

Been watching the box tonight, and many folks who stepped up to the plate, and made their "Mush" public property, seemed to have exited prematurely, is this an example of quality over quantity, or an omen.?.

Re: Mush

Spitfire I'm sorry I don't know what 'mush' is, and I'm really quite afraid to ask

Re: Mush

MUSH is a derogatory name for the people of Portsmouth, derived from their regular attacks suffered by them from the FROGS, from across the channel, Not content with the customary rape, pillage & burn of Southampton & Pompey marriages took place between the races & the male members of these marriages became known as Monsieur.

MUSH for short. A mild insult. Alive today.

Perhaps if you had written 'moosh' it would have made more sense because mush reads like it rhymes with flush whereas as when the word means face the 'u' sounds like 'oo' in 'book', doesn't it?

(At least that is how I remember it)

Re: Mush

I would have substituted the double o for the u, had I been dragged up in Barkshire.

Re: Mush

I lived just outside Pompey for much of my life, and I never heard that expression. Of course, we did call the inhabitants of Southampton, "Scummers".
