The local stately home

Callander House.

This belonged to the Forbes family for centuries, Mary Queen of Scots visited here on occasion, the whole estate was huge, about 2 square miles and surrounded by a 20 foot high stone wall to keep the riff-raff out, it's almost in the centre of town.

The front door.

The back door.

The bridge leading to the duck pond.

The local council now owns it all and the grounds are used for concerts and local events.

Re: The local stately home

Dennis are you secretly employed by Falkirk Council?
The pictures are fantastic. It would make me want to go there. In fact we haven't walked round there for a while. Its time I took another look.

Beautiful - I like the back of the "Big Hoose", it is a bit more impressive looking with the stairs etc! The grounds are beautiful.

Lovely pics again, Nero
