A blooming Orchid in the bathroom

This one's a bit early this year, I noticed this plant went on strike last year, no flowers appeared at all.

Another lovey orchid! They are such good value

The orchid in my bathroom is at 'swelling bud' stage and will be ready to take over later from the orchid in the bedroom, which is in glorious full bloom now.

They are DM, . . and they thrive on neglect, . . all I give them is a little warm water, I never feed them, . . during winter I only water them twice a month, and just a small amount too, the one in flower will get watered once a week 'till the flowers drop.

Mine is on strike this year, sadly. That's a beauty, Nero.

That's really beautiful.

What sort of surroundings do they like i.e. shaded, sunny, warm, humid....etc?

Humidity and no direct sunlight, ours is on the bathroom windowsill, we have 4 of them, the steam from the morning shower sets them up for the day, . . leave them alone and water them sparingly with warm water and they do great, we've had that one in the photo 10 years now.

PS: the pot they're in sits on a bed of gravel (you can use glass marbles) inside a larger clear glass vase, this lets any excess water drain away from the roots and also gives them humidity from the water below the gravel as it evaporates.
