Janet McLeod Trotter

I've just finished the Jarrow Trilogy and it was very good. Based on the life of Catherine Cookson, it's a gripping and interesting story. I would recommend it if you're a fan of Catherine Cookson's work as it's very well written, and in a similar style.

At the moment I'm on the second book of the Durham Trilogy and it's proving to be just as good.

I'd never heard of Janet McLeod Trotter till recently and she hasn't written very many books but I suspect we'll see some more in the future.

I'll give that a go Mazzie as I'll probably like it if it's similar to Catherine Cookson's style.

I love how she gets the period atmosphere ... and she handles relationships sensitively without been mushy and gushy like Mills & Boons.

Speaking of which if anyone like's 18th century soldier/spy books they ought to try The Lord John Grey books by Diana Gabaldon.
The history is well researched, offering a rich tapestry of what life was like then. A good yarn with a gallant hero. Be aware though that the rather dishy gallant hero is homosexual and the story includes his various emotional and sexual encounters ... and is a tad descritive in places so might not be everyone's cup of tea.

The Jarrow Trilogy sound good Mazzie. I've just downloaded it to the Kindle. I love my Kindle but its all too easy to spend money getting all these good books
