Our park (lots of pics)

This is where I go every morning with the dogs, it belongs to the forestry commission, there's all sorts of wildlife here, . . deer, grouse, herons, hawks, rabbits by the hundreds and a host of plants and birds.
It covers an area about one square mile.

It's only a mile outside of town too.

The entrance.

Just inside the gate.

Mea on her way.

The golden birches.

Mea, which way dad ?

Where the path bends to the left is where that stupid deer was standing last week.

These are like bamboo, about 5 foot high, no idea what they are.

A closer look, they're some sort of reed.

A disused railway, it came from the British Aluminium smelter and ran to Grangemouth docks, it's not been used for 50 years.

There are 2 tracks at this point for locos passing.

The inevitable graffiti, mik and dugie were here.

There's even a small lake with loads of water birds, the herons love it.

Finally a look at our Scottish artists.

Looks great nero.

Wondered if they are some type of grass? The seed heads look very 'grasslike'. Not a great expert, maybe someone else will rcognise them.

The stems are like bamboo, hard and stiff, the tops are like grass as you say CM, the leaves are green in summer but they're like bamboo too.

OH says it might be 'yorkshire fog' - said it is common on rough ground near water/ditches/roadsides etc.

Agricultural menace!!!!

He's probably correct CM, the land used to be a bog.
