Morning Chr1st1an, morning all

No thaw here in the SW I'm afraid, light snow falling at the mo and still very icy underfoot.

What will I be doing today? Keeping warm!!!

Re: Sh-Shivering sundayyyyy

Morning Chr1st1an, Hi everybody (where are you? Still in bed? Very sensible! )
It's a bit warmer here too; none of the predicted snow has fallen. We now have a heavy fall forecast for Wednesday but we'll wait and see on that one, as it was also supposed to fall overnight last night and there's nothing. Temperature just above freezing already, so hopefully some of the minor roads might improve a bit.
Roast chicken for 'Sunday Lunch' today. I've got the giblets cooking up, with tasty things, for a nice gravy and there are very comforting smells going through the house.
tbh I'm at a bit of a loose end; nothing to do, nothing to plan; no post-holiday laundry, or even unpacking, as our suitcases haven't found their way home yet. Ho hum, guess I'll just chill and keep warm at the same time
Have a good day everyone and stay safe

10.40 Edit
Suitcases located and will be back home tomorrow or Tuesday. I don't think they have been anywhere more exciting than Gatwick but it would be interesting to find out!

Re: Sh-Shivering sundayyyyy

Morning All, yes weve been lucky here as well in West Berkshire, no snow fallen and all the cars windscreens on the road outside were not frozen over, so fingers crossed for some of us that we don't get any more.

I like the sound of your roast chicken for your Sunday lunch dinahsmum, it's a pity you live far away from us otherwise you could have had us for dinner guests

Morning Christian and All Nope, DM, I have been up for ages - hate being in bed! Fed the parrots and Loki and now watching telly and on here

It was freezing during the night but no more snow so far! It snowed a bit yesterday afternoon when I was up at the field with Loki, where Grant took us. Hope it disappears soon though.

Hope you stay safe and stay warm today.

Well that would have been lovely Alicat - it's a good free-range one, plenty of flavour and plenty of meat for about eight. It will last us through the week, in various guises such as a pasta meal and a risotto and finally soup

Re: Sh-Shivering sundayyyyy

Morning al,

Not to bad here over night but still flutterings of snow the end of someone elses or the start of ours I do not know, seems colder than yesterday but the temp guage says not maybe its the wind factor. Not had many birds either.
Anyhow off to get a new microwave ours broke before Christmas and just seen a good deal from Argos 1/2 price from£74 to £37...so I am off to buy my first sale item this year,
Also getting some more bird food a bit of variety fro them and some milk etc for us just in case. Want the parents to stay in....just popping over to a ouple of neighbours to see if they want anything before I go out.

We are having pork chops dinner today...they looked lovely in the butchers so pork chops, mash, cauli, parsnips, green beans (like veg here) roasties, gravy, cheese sauce.
And homemade apple crumble for pud.

See you all later. Stay upright and warm

Re: Sh-Shivering sundayyyyy

Hardly any snow here and a thaw going on (2°C). Not so much condensation on the windows because of that. The wind is calm. It was supposed to be blowing a blizzard today.

I always get the impression that the media is kind of disappointed when conditions get better. News crews seem to start showing places where chaos could still be taking place but actually isn't.

Re: Sh-Shivering sundayyyyy

Morning All. I am going 'stir crazy' here being obliged to stay indoors, because of the weather and a son who insists that I do NOT walk Cinders. I think it is only because he doesn't like the thought of me breaking something when he would be forced to look after me He normally goes to his girlfriend's home at weekends but as she lives way out in the country he decided it would not be wise, in any case he's doing the twice daily dog walking. So now his girlfriend is sulking...

I spent yesterday telephoning everyone who comes to a club of which I am secretary, to cancel next Wednesday's meeting. They are elderly partially sighted people, so we thought it wisest to cancel early, given that the forecast is for more snow this coming week. Thank goodness I get free evening and weekend calls.
