When I went to "pop" to the shops at around 6 p.m. my car was totally encased in ice. De-icer didn't work, so I started the engine to blow warm air onto the windscreen. That didn't work after 15 minutes either, so I went to get a couple of kettles full of water, which helped. The rain, which I think has now stopped, appeared to be freezing on its way down.

It took me almost half an hour to get to the shop and back, on pretty lethal roads, and it's a 5 minute journey normally. This is the first ice I've driven in since February of last year.

Its been like that here as well Mollie. It was Hailstone this morning & although it has been raining all day the Hail hasn't melted. I just said to OH its weird outside. Still crunchy even though its raining & Icicles everywhere - they look lovely though

Same weather as Mollie and Lynne. My friend called round after being in town-when she was leaving her car was covered in ice, with icicles hanging from wing mirrors No snow here, and can't remember rain falling and freezing on its way down-felt like bits of glass hitting you!

The icicles hanging off the bird table make it look like a chandelier Never seen it like that before

Icicles do look pretty Lynne55. There were long icicles hanging off my driveway gates-have had to leave them open as they are frozen solid!

We've spent time de-icing the bird seeds and bird bath in the garden for the birds. I hate this cold dreary weather makes my bones ache more.
