Re: The Tomato Festival!

Great pics, really enjoyed them, thanks for sharing. The heirloom varieties of tomatoes have been very hot here recently, served in all the posh restaurants and you can get some of them at the farmers markets too. I haven't quite gotten my nerve up to try them: somehow a yellow or black tomato just seems a bit strange, although they must be tasty or they wouldn't have survived .

Re: The Tomato Festival!

What fun! I have to admit I like my tomatoes red and I can't quite envisage eating other colours..

Re: The Tomato Festival!

I usually grow yellow tomatoes (as well as red) - they have a lovely flavour for salad and, of course, give the possibility of a different colour on your plate. BUT - they are absolutely no good for cooking, or not for anything which should be 'real tomato' colour. I've made a yellow tomato based sauce when I've not had red ones available and it just doesn't work! Shows how much we 'eat with our eyes' doesn't it?

Re: The Tomato Festival!

That was really interesting to hear, DM. So they're only eating tomatoes, then ...didn't know that.
