That was Carbolic Soap Hammer, I love the smell of it. Always had it in the kitchen for washing the hands.

I think you might well be right about the brand of the stuff, I know whenever I have caught a whiff of it I am transported back to ma chasing me round the living room and... catching me.
It tasted foul and taught me a lesson I can tell you.

I am only glad she never heard me later on in life, up at the Boleyn on match days, I think I would have got my backside well and truly tanned.

While I was using some bleach the other day, I realised I hadn't seen Chloros in the shops for a long time It had a very distinctive smell and was quite powerful.

Dont know that one,just Domestosor own brand Bleach.

They sell a bleach in America called Clorox I wonder if that is the same stuff. Persil really did make water slimy it was supposed to soften baby clothes it probably had washing soda in it because that makes the water very soft.

I have always used Daz, and Tide before that.
