IMO there is no substantial difference between the policies of the two main parties ('New' Labour and Conservative at the last count). Since around 1980 we have been pushed towards the American system of having two virtually indistinguishable parties operating at the behest of the global financial powers, and incapable of finding a way out of this global financial crisis without pouring more petrol upon the funeral pyre of a failing economic model !
