Muffin
After the trauma of madam ChoCho and her bad leg Muffin came out in sympathy with a right back leg problem. Over the past few weeks he's been examined and x-rayed but nothing specific found, various things tried, none of them worked, Muffin continued to limp and keep holding his leg up. Time to see the specialist vet, Augustin. After checking the x-rays and other things he thought that Muffin had a broken cruciate ligament which required an operation.
Operation day arrived and we set off to drop Muffin off, we had intended leaving ChoCho at home but she had other ideas and the minute she realised Muffin was going somewhere without her she started screaming, howling and throwing herself at the door, so we had to go back and fetch her. We put her in the cage in the car, I was going to keep muffin on my knee, but that didn't suit her either, Muffin HAD to go in the cage with her.
At the vet's Augustin sedated Muffin so that he wouldn't get stressed when I left. Once sedated Augustin was able to give Muffin a much deeper prodding and poking examination and he discovered there was no broken ligament, no joint problem either and he said he was not going to operate needlessly. Muffin was then given another injection to wake him up.
ChoCho had to be present in the surgery because leaving her in the waiting room with Mr Clumsy simply had her screaming because Muffin had gone into another room (much to the amusement of other people waiting). Once she had Muffin in her sight she was as good as gold.
So now Augustin has to try something else. Muffin weighed 6 kg but Augustin wants him at 4.5 kg so he's put on a diet given 2 trocoxil tablets, I am told, very sternly, the amount of food he can have daily and no treats whatsoever. Two more appointments one of which was yesterday, two more Trocoxil tablets given and another appointment towards the end of December for two more tablets.
Yesterday Muffin's weight had dropped to 5. 4 kg and although he is still limping at times and occasionally holding his leg up he is definitely much better than he was. He's not at all happy about having his food cut down though and he really isn't happy about the special dried food he has at great expense either but eats it when he gets hungry enough and realises he isn't getting anything else.
So now we wait and see how he is at the end of December.
Here he is having a snuggle with his boss lady.
